SJU: So Join Us

Every Sunday at 10:30 am

(instructions on how to join in are to the right!)

Nearly 25% of Howard County residents have NOT yet taken their Census. We lose nearly $18,000 in federal funding for every person who doesn’t complete the Census. This is critical funding which can help our healthcare system with vaccines, hospital beds, emergency services, and more. Take it now at Be counted! It’s important, safe, and easy.

Register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event.

Mission Accomplished!

What an absolutely FANTASTIC week we had on our mission To Mars and Beyond! Twenty-four children and nine intrepid leaders accepted the challenge to participate in our first-ever “V” is for Virtual Bible School. (That’s 25% more than last year’s enrollment!)

We sang and we danced. We made bookmarks, sun catchers, and robots. Even though we couldn’t be together in person, we enjoyed each other’s company and shared God’s love with one another. The Bible stories helped us learn to

With this year’s VBS complete, we are already planning for next year! We don’t know if it will be online or in person, but we do know it will be GREAT! We’re looking forward to it and we hope you are too!

Don’t forget you can still help the children Go Beyond with KINDNESS! as they support local organizations:

We are asking you to make a donation of at least $1 per VBS participant (24) in our first “V” is for Virtual Bible Study. Designate VBS when you give online or mail a check to the SJU office.

We THANK YOU for all your prayers and support as we prepared for and conducted VBS!

SJU “V” is for Virtual Bible School Team:

VBS Director Jen McClurg, Pastor Mary Ka Kanahan, CJ Buche, Donna Hayman, Karen Hopkins, Guy Moody, Susan Moody, Patsy Nwagbaraocha, & Mary Lou Shippe (Behind the Scenes, but not unseen – John Roberts, George Telis & Yvonne Barner)

Who We Are:
Vision Statement

We are a progressive, inclusive Christian community, strengthened by the diversity of our members and our faith traditions, that comes together to worship God, to further spiritual growth, and to minister to each other, the community, and the world through active Christian involvement.

Our Mission Is ...

  • To worship God;

  • To support and nurture each other;

  • To provide a foundation for our spiritual life;

  • To empower our members in ministry;

  • To celebrate our diversity and promote inclusiveness for all;

  • To partner with and advocate for victims of social injustice;

  • And to share the good news of Jesus Christ and invite others to do the same.

Worship With Us

We celebrate creative Christian worship in a simple setting. We encourage members to take an active part in the worship experience as we draw from Protestant traditions and the multicultural backgrounds of our members. We choose to worship in a building shared with other congregations, enriching our spiritual experience!
